The closing ceremony is basically a concert thrown for the athletes. You can expect the theme to be a tribute to British music over the last 50 years, including some 30 different performances. Exact details are kept secret, but expected to perform are Adele, George Michael, the Who, Muse, Spice Girls, Pet Shop Boys, Annie Lennox and Fatboy Slim. No word yet if Sir Elton will be there.
The closing ceremony starts at 1 p.m. PT, which is 9 p.m. in London. If you want to watch it live, you can watch it on the Internet at nbcolympics.com. You will be able to watch it on TV via tape delay beginning at 7 p.m. on NBC.
Other things to look for on Sunday:
Before Lakers Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol can greet Dwight Howard as their new teammate they first must play each other in the men’s final. The U.S. team has looked shabby at times, but they always put it together at the end. Spain also has Marc Gasol, Pau’s brother, to clog up the middle. Still, it’s unlikely the U.S. will lose in the gold-medal game.
