In July, Larry Heyert visited Katmai National Park in southern Alaska. From a viewing platform at Brooks Falls, he watched this apparently hungry brown bear catch salmon.
"I was caught by both the size of the bear, about 900 pounds, and the bear's beautiful blond coat," Heyert said.
The Hermosa Beach resident used a Nikon D90.
