The CEOs for Apple and Samsung are expected to speak by phone Monday to try to reach a settlement before the jury begins deliberating their patent-infringement case, as is expected later this week.
Under the request of U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh, the two tech chiefs will speak and afterward will report on their conversation to the judge, according to a report.
Apple's Tim Cook and Samsung's Kwon Oh Hyun have already met and talked in person earlier this summer to try to settle their differences but have been unable to make progress.
The trial, which began last month, was set in motion last year when Apple sued the South Korean-based company, accusing it of copying its mobile device designs, to which Samsung responded with a countersuit.
