The Rolling Stones will play a small handful of shows in 2012 during the 50th anniversary year of the group’s founding, Billboard is reporting.
The trade publication says Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Charlie Watts and company will do a pair of shows in London, and another double-header in Brooklyn in November, countering band members’ previous assertions that the band wouldn’t be hitting the road this year.
But the group's official website has no information about any such dates.
[Update at 1:20 p.m.:] The Stones' U.S. spokeswoman said that no dates have been confirmed.
The London shows, Billboard says, will be at the O2 Arena, and the Brooklyn dates will be at the new Barclays Center sports arena. The information is attributed to “a source,” which also said that Richard Branson and Australian promoter Paul Dainty will promote these shows, rather than Michael Cohl, who has been promoting the Stones’ tours for decades.
