CIF State Regional Championship Bowl Games

Friday's schedule

Division I

Clovis North (12-1) vs. Long Beach Poly (11-3) at Veterans Stadium, 7:30 p.m. (TWC HD 700): After conquering La Puente Bishop Amat, Mission Viejo, Bellflower St. John Bosco and Santa Ana Mater Dei to win the Pac-5 Division, Poly continues its remarkable turnaround with this Division I regional bowl game. The performance from the offensive and defensive lines has been an important reason for Poly's success. Receiver-defensive back John Smith has been a standout. Clovis North has a versatile quarterback in Christian Rossi and a pair of 6-foot-6 tight ends in Josh Lovingood and David Wells. The pick: Poly.

Division IV

Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep (12-1) vs. Solano Beach Santa Fe Christian (10-3) at San Diego Del Norte High, 7:30 p.m.: Rio Hondo has 98 students, but it has made a smooth transition from being an eight-man power to small schools 11-man success under Coach Ken Drain. Nate Tayco rushed for 173 yards and four touchdowns last week in the Northeast Division final. Santa Fe Christian relies on quarterback Hunter Vaccaro. The pick: Rio Hondo Prep.
