Five-spice garlic lobster is part of Chef Joseph Elevado's menu at… (Jeff Green )
East meets West and the nightclub scene meets the restaurant scene when Andrea’s, the newest restaurant at Encore, opens Friday (today), bringing its own version of fusion to Las Vegas.
Andrea's is integrated into the resort’s Surrender nightclub, and its promoters say it will offer “vibe dining,” thanks largely to the resident DJ who will be spinning tunes throughout the evening. (The managers promise the volume will be subtle enough that it won't disrupt conversation.)
At the helm is Executive Chef Joseph Elevado, lured from the same post at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills.
Elevado’s menu is designed for people dining in groups, and although it offers traditional soups, salads and entrees, the emphasis is on what are being called “table shares” intended for passing. The 11 such items include crispy blue crab and scallop kimchee ($19) and Waygu beef sliders ($24).
For heartier appetites, the main courses include five-spice garlic lobster ($45) and Japanese Kobe rib cap ($65).
“I envision people eating much like I do when I go out with friends, sharing together family-style,” Elevado said in a news release. “Dishes like crispy crab and scallop, truffled ponzu rock shrimp tempura and, of course, Wagyu sliders are perfect to share."
As Elevado oversees the happenings in the kitchen, DJ Steve Angello — Andrea’s so-called musical chef — will be producing music mixes on a state-of-the-art sound system.
The volume will ramp up — figuratively if not also literally — with the 11 p.m. opening of Surrender. Diners will benefit from special club privileges, including line passes.
"Andrea's will seamlessly integrate into the Surrender space and experience," Sean Christie of Christie’s Las Vegas Nightlife Group said in a statement. "It fills a need by catering to the resort's significant nightlife clientele.”
Reservations are available by calling (702) 770-3463. Seating for opening night is early and limited.
