Update: The Trent Hunter comeback story could have been a nice one. Good guy overcomes knee surgery to make a difference for the Kings. It didn't quite materialize and the Kings put Hunter on waivers Friday morning, a move designed to create roster room for forward Jarret Stoll's possible return. Hunter had two goals and seven points in 47 games with the Kings. Stoll (strained hip muscle) has been on injured reserve but wasn't quite ready to say he would play against the Flames. Ideally, he would prefer a full-fledged practice, and the Kings did not have one Friday and watched plenty of video. "Getting better, close, just we'll see tomorrow morning how it feels," Stoll said. "I pushed it pretty hard today [skating]. I would like a practice and that's one thing I think that is important. I know what this injury is about and I've had it before and I don't want to come back prematurely and do it again. I've got to be smart about it." The injury-riddled Flames, two points behind the eighth-place Kings in the Western Conference, have been relying heavily on their top line of Alex Tanguay-Olli Jokinen-Jarome Iginla. The trio has been putting up big minutes. Iginla played 26-plus minutes in Thursday's overtime loss at Dallas. The Kings will be honoring former star Charlie Simmer on Saturday with a pregame ceremony, and Kings players will be wearing vintage jerseys.
