Re "Lead is a threat to condors," June 26
In 1969, when I was 10 years old, I read about the threat to wildlife posed by lead ammunition. It was completely obvious even to a 10-year old girl that steel should be substituted for lead in all ammunition.
Forty-three years later, very little has been accomplished, even though cheap and effective steel ammunition is available. I blame the National Rifle Assn., ignorant hunters and incompetent politicians, and I find it mind-boggling and pathetic that this country is incapable of solving such a simple problem.
