Ray Allen will sign with the Heat, according to a tweet from Miami owner Micky Arison.
“It's 2:30 a.m. in London and I was just woken up with great news. Welcome to the family -- No. 20,” said Arison via Twitter on Friday night.
Confirming an agreement between Allen and the Heat on a mini mid-level contract worth $3 million for next season were CBSSports.com, Associated Press, Yahoo! and SI.com. The contract can't be signed until Wednesday when an NBA business moratorium is lifted.
Allen, a 10-time All-Star, will turn 37 later this month. He is the NBA's all-time three-point leader and has averaged 20 points a game while shooting 40% from three-point range during his career.
