Those black wedding gowns from Vera Wang's Fall 2012 bridal show could have been an omen: The renowned designer has split from husband Arthur Becker after 23 years of marriage.
Wang and Becker announced Wednesday that they were splitting, in a statement to WWD.
"Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate. They remain devoted parents to their two daughters," Wang's company president, Mario Grauso, said in the statement.
The couple married at the Pierre Hotel in New York in 1989, when Wang was the design director at Ralph Lauren. Their daughters' names are Cecilia and Josephine.
Wang, who opened her signature salon in the Carlyle hotel, was urged by her husband to embrace the mass side of the business, WWD said. He was involved in Wang's various ventures, which include bridal, high- and lower-end fashion, makeup, home goods and fragrances. The company apparently operates under Wang and Becker's two camps.
