Rory McIlroy clobbers fan with errant British Open tee shot

July 20, 2012|By Houston Mitchell

McIlroy sent a tee shot wide on Friday that hit spectator Jason Blue in the head and ended up out of bounds.

But it wasn't all a lost cause. After McIlroy found out what he had done, he signed one of his gloves and gave it to Blue, who seems pretty dazed in the above video.

Then McIlroy learned the ball caromed out of bounds and he would have to tee off again. You have to wonder if McIlroy wanted the glove back after that, and if Blue ran screaming from the course after learning McIlroy would tee off again.

McIlroy shot a 75 on Friday and is in danger of missing the cut with a two-over 142 for the tournament.
