The Kings are up, 1-0, because of persistence by the Kings’ Alec Martinez.

Martinez scored on goaltender Martin Brodeur on the final one 5 minutes 40 seconds into the second period at Staples Center on Monday.

Brodeur complained to referees that the whistle should have been blown.

New Jersey has never won a Stanley Cup Final game in Southern California, going 0-3 against the Ducks in 2003.
