Often curt and occasionally prone to belittling reporters, Kobe Bryant may never be a media darling.
But the Lakers star has always been a hit with social media, a phenomenon that was highlighted Thursday when Bryant won a pair of NBA SocialĀ Media Awards presented by NBA TV.
Bryant won the #TrendSetter Award as the player who received the most mentions this season on Twitter, and the Thumbs-Up Award as the player who had the most likes or whose Facebook posts receive the most likes.
The Lakers took home the Social MVT (Most Valuable Team) for having the largest social media footprint during the season.
Jeremy Lin won the Epic Award for favorite game (as voted by fans) during the regular season, which may stoke painful memories for the Lakers since it came against them in a New York Knicks victory on Feb. 12 at Madison Square Garden.
