Update: Chivas USA, one of five MLS teams still alive in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, can advance to the semifinals with a win over Charlotte, which has yet to lose on the road in the tournament, The Eagles play in the USL Pro, the third tier of the North American soccer pyramid. They beat FC Dallas of MLS, 2-0, in the third round of the Open Cup and have given up only one goal in their last three Cup matches. Meanwhile, Chivas, coming off a scoreless tie in Dallas on Saturday, has lost only once in its last nine tries. Two of those matches were Open Cup wins over the Ventura County Fusion and the Carolina RailHawks. The U.S. Open Cup, the oldest ongoing soccer tournament in the country, is open to all affiliated teams of the United States Soccer Federation and is recognized as the U.S. club championship.
