Hines Ward cut by Steelers; is he a Hall of Famer? [Poll]

March 01, 2012|By Houston Mitchell

As Times NFL reporter Sam Farmer reported Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers will release veteran wide receiver Hines Ward.

"We had a conversation today with Hines Ward and informed him that we plan to release him of his contract prior to the start of the 2012 NFL calendar year," Steelers President Art Rooney II told "Hines has been an integral part of our success since we drafted him in 1998, and we will forever be grateful for what he has helped us achieve."

With Ward, 36, now a free agent and his future undecided, the questions is: Is he a Hall of Famer?

Ward has 1,000 career catches (eighth all time), 12,083 receiving yards (18th) and 85 touchdown receptions (13th). He was named to four Pro Bowls and was a Super Bowl MVP.

He is also a "Dancing with the Stars" champion! OK, that probably won't have much bearing on Ward being elected or not.

So, the question to you is: Hines Ward, Hall of Famer or not? Vote now in our poll.
