Randy Moss to the New Orleans Saints? Sounds kind of crazy with everything else that the Saints have going on right now, but it could happen.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer is reporting that the awesome-when-he-wants-to-be wide receiver will work out for the defending NFC South champions on Tuesday.

Moss is one of the best wide receivers in NFL history and, even though he spent all of 2011 out of the league, he still could be a valuable asset to a team ... if he wants to. And he says that he wants to.

But do the Saints, who were the No. 2 seed coming out of the NFC last year, really need to bring in the talented but controversial receiver right now? They're already in the middle of a huge bounty-hunting scandal that's going to get worse before it gets better.

Plus, they've got the Drew Brees situation to deal with. The Saints' star quarterback reportedly is quite upset after receiving the franchise tag from the team and may not sign it. A personality like Moss' may be the last thing Saints need right now.

But then again, look how well things worked out with Moss and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Moss' 23 touchdown receptions in 2007 is the all-time best for a single season, and his 1,493 receiving yards was a franchise record until broken by Wes Welker last season.

Just think what a motivated Moss might do on the same team with Brees, who just set an NFL record for single-season passing yards. Such possibilities also might motivate Brees and the Saints to try a little harder to work out their differences.

So maybe we shouldn't think of it so much as Randy Moss to the New Orleans Saints. Imagine hearing another phrase instead -- Drew Brees to Randy Moss -- over and over next season.

Makes a little more sense, doesn't it?
