Dodgers pitcher Will Savage salvaged a tie in the ninth inning for the Dodgers… (Jae C. Hong / Associated…)
Dodgers 3, Oakland 3 (game called after nine innings)
AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers' Cory Sullivan, who has played with Colorado, the New York Mets and Houston and was in triple A for Philadelphia last season, was three for four and drove in the tying run in the seventh inning. Oakland opened with four consecutive hits, scoring twice in the first inning against Dodgers starter Aaron Harang. The Dodgers scored twice in the fourth inning without a hit, taking advantage of four walks.
ON THE MOUND: The Dodgers' Will Savage salvaged the tie in the ninth. With runners on first and second and one out, he faced Athletics designated hitter Chris Carter, worked him to a 2-2 count, and survived a bullet that Carter smashed just foul down the third base line. Savage then struck out Carter and got Jason Pridie to fly out to right.
EXTRA BASES: This was to be the first time the Dodgers had seen their old hero/nemesis Manny Ramirez, who was signed by the A's with the knowledge that he cannot play until May 30 because he is still serving a drug-violation suspension imposed by Major League Baseball. But Ramirez withdrew from the lineup before the game because of a stiff back.
UP NEXT: The Dodgers send Chris Capuano against the A's and Jarrod Parker at noon PST Thursday at Camelback Ranch in Phoenix.
ON THE AIR: TV — Prime Ticket. Radio — none.
