Reporting from Dallas -- Ramon Sessions didn't start Wednesday's game against Dallas, but it appeared to be only a matter of time before he overtook Steve Blake.
As in, one more game.
Sessions had 17 points and nine assists in the Lakers' 109-93 victory over the Mavericks at American Airlines Center.
It was Sessions' fourth game with the Lakers but he already looked plenty familiar with the offense. He made seven of eight shots and also took five rebounds in 28 minutes.
Blake had three points and two assists in 17 minutes.
Kobe Bryant broke out of a two-game slump with 30 points on 11-for-18 shooting. Pau Gasol added 27 points, making 13 of 16 shots as the Lakers improved to 29-18 overall and 10-15 on the road. They return home to play Portland on Friday.
The Mavericks (27-21) were without two starters because of minor knee injuries--forward Shawn Marion and center Brendan Haywood.
Dirk Nowitzki had 26 points and Jason Terry had 23 for Dallas, which fell to 0-3 against the Lakers this season.
