Eighty-four percent of Americans planning to travel this summer expect to travel primarily by car for at least one of their trips, a survey from Choice Hotels International found.  Those same Americans plan on racking up an average of 1,172 miles on all their summer vacations . . . . The biggest celebration of the Golden Gate Bridge’s 75th birthday takes place May 27, the anniversary of its opening. Organizers are inviting the public to share personal stories and photos of the bridge online at goldengatebridge75.org . . . . Mother’s Day tip: The historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside is hosting a “Miss Manners Afternoon Tea” Saturday. Priced at $45 per person, it offers seatings at 2 or 3 p.m.  It includes a one-hour session of Miss Manners Charm School and a carriage ride through downtown Riverside after the tea.
