Sunday of Memorial Day weekend is like Christmas for gearheads and a day many casual fans also turn their eyes toward some of motor racing's most popular events.

The day kicks off with the Grand Prix of Monaco, where Formula One drivers maneuver through the streets of picturesque Monte Carlo.

Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull Racing team has won the F1 championship the last two years, but there have been five different winners (including Vettel) in the first five races this season.

Next comes the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500, where pole-sitter Ryan Briscoe of Team Penske will lead the 33-car field at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

There also will be several tributes to the late Dan Wheldon, who won the Indy 500 last year but was killed in a racing crash in October in Las Vegas.

Capping the day is NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600, the longest Sprint Cup Series race on the schedule at 600 miles, at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

California's Kevin Harvick is the defending winner, and this year's field will include former Indy car driver Danica Patrick as she makes her third start in NASCAR's elite Cup series.
