TiVo, the popular TV recording service, will be making its way onto Apple's mobile devices sometime this summer.

The service, which is called TiVo Stream, was announced earlier this week by the company, and it will allow users to stream their shows as well as download them, according to a release from TiVo.

"Consumers not only want an enjoyable TV experience, but now demand choice and the flexibility to watch content on multiple devices and screens within the home," said Tom Rogers, president and chief executive, in a statement.

TiVo Stream will bring content available on users' TiVo Premiere and Premier Q DVR services to mobile devices. While the company does not specify exactly which devices that will include, TiVo did specifically mention the iPhone and iPad.

Earlier this year, Rogers said the services would be on the market by the end of summer, according to The Verge.

Announcement of the service took place at the 2012 NCTA Cable Show in Boston on Monday, where the company also announced another product, a new IP set-top box. The box, which is also due this summer, will work with TiVo Premiere Q to allow consumers to view content availble through their TiVo service from other TVs in their homes.
