SEATTLE -- Torii Hunter, on baseball’s restricted list since May 14, is scheduled to return to Southern California and work out at Angel Stadium today, Angels Manager Mike Scioscia said.
The Angels right fielder will go through another workout Monday afternoon, and there is a good chance he will be activated for Monday night’s game against the New York Yankees at Angel Stadium.
Hunter has been in Texas the last two weeks dealing with the arrest of his 17-year-old son, Darius McClinton-Hunter, on suspicion of sexual assault. Scioscia said Hunter has been running, throwing and taking live batting practice during his absence.
The Angels, meanwhile, have won five consecutive games, and when they play the Seattle Mariners on Sunday in Safeco Field, they will be going for their first four-game road sweep since Aug. 6-9, 2004, at Kansas City.
The Angels lineup: LF Mike Trout, 3B Alberto Callaspo, 1B Albert Pujols, DH Kendrys Morales, RF Mark Trumbo, 2B Howie Kendrick, SS Erick Aybar, CF Peter Bourjos, C Bobby Wilson, PC.J. Wilson.
The Mariners lineup: 2B Dustin Ackley, CF Chone Figgins, RF Ichiro Suzuki, DH Jesus Montero, 1B Justin Smoak, 3B Kyle Seager, LF Alex Liddi, C Miguel Olivo, SS Brendan Ryan, P Hector Noesi.
