Another year, another costume, another crop of celebrity parties. Halloween went down in Los Angeles, but who came out on top?

From cheeky to scary to simply strange, celebs dressed up and partied starting Saturday and chugging through the week to Wednesday's official fright night. Here's a rundown of the best fetes:

Hay Fever: JustJared.com hosted bold names on Saturday at Hollywood's Siren Studios, offering up a maze made of bales of hay and a psychic reading tent from Oranum.com. Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, Tobey Maguire and Brittany Snow (as a cute bumblebee) showed and danced to tunes from Tom Cruise's DJ son Connor.

For the family: Kids dominated, in both costume and spirit, at PlayStation's Los Angeles launch for "Wonderbook: Book of Spells," a video game title that features writing from "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling. Courteney Cox and James Marsden chatted amongst Jaime Pressley, Marisa Tomei, Jason Ritter, Mandy Moore, David Spade and Catherine Bell.

Will Schuster's birthday: Matthew Morrison, whose birthday is the day before Halloween, has made a tradition out of celebrating both events with some famous pals. Naturally, "Glee's" Mr. Schuster welcomed cast members like Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss and Naya Rivera to night club Lure. Monster High provided neon coffins for a photo booth, luring "Revenge" actor Gabriel Mann, Lance Bass and JC Chasez, Christina Milian and many more.

For the dogs: Not all Halloween partying is done at night, nor is it purely for the sake of skimpy costumes and candy (flavored booze). The 2012 Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Halloween Half-Marathon went off in downtown Los Angeles, all to benefit the ASPCA. Will Ferrell strutted his stuff with four-legged friends, as did Shawn Johnson and Brandon and Leah Jenner.

Boos like Jagger: Maroon 5 threw its annual party, this year with a carnival theme, on the grounds of Hollywood Forever cemetery, pulling folks like Katy Perry and Andrew Garfield's ex Shannon Woodward, Ellen Barkin, girl group The Saturdays and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
