Monday morning's Twitter #Weekendeats chat took participants on a trip around the globe. We happen to be a Los Angeles-based publication, but people join in on the #Weekendeats fun from around the U.S. and beyond. This week's chat included recipes and pictures of food from the Philippines, India, Greece, Israel and more. Here are the highlights:
#Weekendeats chat newcomer Elizabeth, from the blog Asian in America, shared a recipe for sabo tacsyapu na (Filipino style sardines, spinach and tomato soup). Elizabeth and her family live on the East Coast and were affected by Sandy. She was able to use the ingredients in her pantry to make the soup despite the power outages.
The blog Deliciously Directionless shared photos of Indian delights, including hot jalebi and gulab jamun (Indian sweet donuts), sweet lassi and aloo paratha, sarson ka saag, maa ki daal and kadahi paneer. Food blogger Sinosoul indulged in curry goat with red beans, rice and plantains, and the blog Square Meals shared an interesting recipe for masala paneer spread.
Jocelyn of the blog Saucy Joecy's Kitchen shared a recipe for tiropita (savory Greek cheese pie), and Shulie Madnick of the blog Food Wanderings tweeted a recipe for burnt eggplant with garlic, lemon and pomegranate seeds from Israel.
