Richard Hammond's Crash Course: In this new episode Richard tries to give a Harlem-style haircut, then helps build and test fly a new helicopter (7 and 11 p.m. BBC America).

The Dust Bowl:  In the new episode "Reaping the Whirlwind" families find relief in California while conservation efforts help stabilize the soil and rejuvenate farms (8 p.m. KOCE).

The Secret Life of the American Teenager:  This new special seasonal episode finds the gang celebrating the holidays at an abandoned toy warehouse when Kathy (Josie Bissett) suddenly goes into labor. Megan Park and Greg Finley also star (8 p.m. ABC Family).

2 Broke Girls:  In this new episode Max and Caroline (Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs) hire a couple of Amish boys to build a barn for Chestnut (9 p.m. CBS).
The Layover With Anthony Bourdain: While cruising around Chicago Tony starts to believe no one eats deep dish pizza in the Windy City, in the season premiere (9 p.m. Travel).

Castle: After a disastrous dinner that leaves them bickering, Castle and Beckett (Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic) are assigned to retrieve a murder witness, when an ambush forces them to go on the run with him. Tony Denison and Patrick Fischler guest star in this new episode (10 p.m. ABC).

I Love the 1880s:  This new episode answers the questions: How are Bonnie and Clyde like Fleetwood Mac? and how many U.S. Vice Presidents have shot people while in office? (11:02 p.m. History)


The TeenNick 2012 HALO Awards:  Four ordinary teens receive recognition for doing extraordinary things in this new special that features Tyra Banks, Justin Bieber, Josh Duhamel and Emma Stone (8 p.m. Nickelodeon).


College basketball: EA Sports Maui quarterfinals: Illinois vs. USC (9 p.m. ESPN2). Legends semifinals: Georgetown vs. UCLA (5 p.m. ESPN2).

Football: The Bears visit the 49ers (5:30 p.m. ESPN).

Pro basketball: The Clippers visit the San Antonio Spurs (5:30 p.m. FS Prime).
