Going into his 14th season as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid got what has been perceived as an ultimatum by team owner Jeffrey Lurie, who said a second straight 8-8 season would be "unacceptable."

Well, here we are, the day after the Eagles fell to the Carolina Panthers, 30-22, to drop to 3-8 this season. For those of you who might struggle a bit with math, that means now the best-case scenario for the Eagles is 8-8.

In other words, things aren't looking good for Reid.

So when will it happen? Is Reid going to be cut loose any day now? Any second? It's not as if Lurie hasn't had a chance to get a plan in place. Or did he think that after six straight losses the Eagles were suddenly going to start an amazing run of victories to preserve that crucial winning season?

Maybe Reid will continue on this season as a lame-duck coach. Not sure what good that would do anyone, though. Unless Lurie is having second thoughts about getting rid of the coach who led his team to five NFC championship games and one Super Bowl.

Lurie provided no hints Monday, departing from an Eagles Hall of Fame event before the media could get to him.

That pretty much leaves Reid — and Eagles fans — hanging. But the coach said after Monday's loss that job security is the furthest thing from his mind right now.

"I'm going to control what I can control, and that's getting better as a football team," Reid said. "I'm not worried about all of the other things."
