Soccer great (and underwear designer/model) David Beckham is saying goodbye to fans in Los Angeles. He's leaving his gig with the L.A. Galaxy after Saturday's MLS championship game. But my bet is he keeps turning up in underwear ads. After all, who can forget the giant-sized images of Beckham in his briefs and boxers that were projected on the White Cliffs of Dover last summer during the Olympics? [Los Angeles Times]

Yesterday's rumors that Alexander Wang has been tapped to take the reins as creative director at Balenciaga are true, WWD says, and the hiring will be announced next week. He's to replace Nicolas Ghesquiere, who is scheduled to depart Balenciaga on Friday. [WWD]

Fashion retailer Zara and its parent company Inditex have  agreed to eliminate all hazardous chemical releases from their products and supply chain by 2020 in response to the Greenpeace organization's Detox Campaign, according to a news release. The campaign "demands that fashion brands commit to zero discharge of all hazardous chemicals by 2020 and require their suppliers to disclose all releases of toxic chemicals from their facilities to communities at the site of water pollution," the release says. Lots of "housewives" turned up for a party Kyle Richards threw Wednesday night for jewelry designer Rafi Anteby and his Bullets 4 Peace at her Beverly Hills boutique, Kyle by Alene Too. According to her press representative, they included her "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast mates Lisa Vanderpump, Camille Grammer, Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton along with New York "housewife" Carole Radziwill.  “The Blind Side” actor Quinton Aaron was also among the guests.

The new London exhibit "Valentino: Master of Couture" turns the fashion show concept on its head: Visitors walk along a "runway" to view the clothes on mannequins seated (or standing) on each side. [The Cut]

Three managers have been arrested for allegedly preventing workers from escaping the Bangladesh garment factory fire that killed more than 100 people over the weekend. Two other men have been taken into custody as police investigate whether the blaze may have been arson. [Los Angeles Times]

Sally Hansen has introduced a home version of the long-lasting (two weeks) gel manicure with a kit that includes polish appliques, a gel finishing coat and an LED light for curing. The polish reportedly comes off with regular polish remover, not the drying acetone salons use. It sells for around $28. [The Cut]
