The Big Bang Theory: When Sheldon (Jim Parsons) discovers that Penny (Kaley Cuoco) is thinking about breaking up with Leonard (Johnny Galecki) he tries to intervene in this new episode. Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar and Mayim Bialik also star (8 p.m. CBS).

30 Rock: Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin star in the premiere of the comedy's seventh and final season (8 p.m. NBC).

The Next:  The five remaining finalists compete and the winner is announced in the season finale (8 p.m. KTLA).

Two and a Half Men: He's rich, he's handsome — what's not to love? Zoey (Sophie Winkleman) drives Walden (Ashton Kutcher) to a breakdown when she ends their relationship. Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones and Conchata Ferrell also star in this new episode (8:30 p.m. CBS).

Person of Interest: A cold case helps Reese (Jim Caviezel) get closer to finding Finch (Michael Emerson) and his kidnapper (Amy Acker), by uncovering some surprises about the latter's past. Margo Martindale ("Justified") guest stars with series regulars Taraji P. Henson and Kevin Chapman (9 p.m. CBS).

Glee:  Relationships are in jeopardy in this new episode (9 p.m. Fox).

Elementary: Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) uses his deductive powers to help the police investigate the murder of a young man who was shot as soon as he entered his apartment. With Lucy Liu, Bill Heck and Jon Michael Hill (10 p.m. CBS).

Jersey Shore: The unscripted series returns for its sixth and final season (10 p.m. MTV).


A Thousand Words:  A fast-talking literary agent (Eddie Murphy) discovers that he has only a thousand words left to say before he dies in this 2012 comedy drama (9:30 p.m. HBO).


Women's soccer: Boston College at North Carolina (5 p.m. FS Prime).
