Baseball wild-card: Watch some great moments in postseason history

October 05, 2012|By Houston Mitchell

Up first, at 2 p.m. PDT, the St, Louis Cardinals (the defending World Series champions) take on the Atlanta Braves. At 5:30 p.m., the Baltimore Orioles take on the Texas Rangers.

In honor of the one-game format, Major League Baseball has released a video highlighting some great moments of the past when everything was on the line in one game.

Francisco Cabrera, Bill Mazeroski, Aaron Boone, Craig Counsell, Bucky Dent. They are all here.

It is a fun video to watch if you are a baseball fan (although if you are a Boston Red Sox fan, you may want to skip it, since they are on the losing end an awful lot).

And don't look for the Kirk Gibson homer, Dodgers fans. These are moments where everything was riding on one game. That wasn't the case when he hit his home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series.
