Controversial NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor will be the subject of a new feature-length documentary, "LT: The Life and Times," for Showtime.

The project, which will air early next year, will focus on Taylor's career with the New York Giants as well as chronicle his stormy life off the field. The film, which is being produced by Showtime Sports and CBS Sports in association with NFL Films, is being billed as the first in-depth look at Taylor's life, featuring "never-before-heard stories" from him, his family, former teammates and coaches.

Said Taylor in announcing the film, "When they first approached me, I said, 'No way. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to put my life on display.' But hell, my life is already on display, so I decided to go with it and see how it turns out."
