It's mid-October and the football and basketball seasons are in full swing. For food lovers, this can only mean one thing -- it's tailgate time! When you sit down to watch your favorite team, the gameday snacks are just as important as the games themselves. During this morning's #Weekendeats chat, people shared some fun recipes for gameday food. Here are the highlights:
For a twist on wings, Chris Connon from the blog Remadeit.co.uk shared a recipe for sweet cola BBQ chicken wings made with Pepsi, ketchup, malt vinegar and dark soy sauce. And for those who take their meat seriously, Lindy & Grundy Meats really got our juices going with a picture of smoked porchetta. The blog Abccooking shared their take on the classic burger and introduced us to what they call the Aussi style burger, which comes topped with beets.
Chips and salsa are simple fan favorites, but Susan Orlins from the blog Home Goes Strong kicked up her snacks with seven recipes for crostini with toppings. The blog Deliciously Directionless also shared two recipes for bruschetta with roasted bell peppers.
Brownies, cookies and cupcakes are always fun for tailgates, but what about a sweet and savory cheddar and McIntosh apple hand pie from the blog Swallowfood.com?
