The Big Bang Theory:  Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) returns from space in this new episode (8 p.m. CBS).

30 Rock:  Liz (Tina Fey) runs damage control on Tracy (Tracy Morgan) in the wake of an offensive Tweet and also tries to keep Jenna (Jane Krakowski) from losing it over some unflattering press. Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte guest stars in this new episode (8 p.m. NBC).

Up All Night: After realizing that they haven't had a night out in months, Reagan and Chris (Christina Applegate, Will Arnett) decide to go out on the town with Ava and Jerry (Maya Rudolph, Rob Huebel) in this new episode (8:30 p.m. NBC).

Project Runway:  Heidi Klum hosts the season finale and Jennifer Hudson serves as a guest judge (9 p.m. Lifetime).

Parks and Recreation: Leslie (Amy Poehler) starts a sex education class to combat an outbreak of sexually transmitted diseases among the local seniors in this new episode (9:30 p.m. NBC).

Austin City Limits:  The Grammy Award-winning folk group Bon Iver performs in this new episode (10 p.m. KVCR).

Sweet Genius: In the season premiere the chefs are offered inspiration in the form of cute dogs (10 p.m. Food).

MOVIES

Ethel:  Filmmaker Rory Kennedy interviews her mother, Ethel Kennedy, wife of Robert F. Kennedy, who discusses family, marriage and politics in this new documentary (9 p.m. HBO).

SPORTS

Baseball: MLB League Championship Series: The New York Yankees visit the Detroit Tigers (If necessary). (1 p.m. TBS). The San Francisco Giants visit the St. Louis Cardinals (4:30 p.m. Fox).

High school football: The DeLand (Fla.) visit the Sandalwood (Fla.) (5 p.m. ESPN2).

College football: Houston at Southern Methodist (5 p.m. FSN); Oregon at Arizona State (6 p.m. ESPN).

Preseason basketball: The Boston Celtics visit the Brooklyn Nets (5 p.m. TNT).
