Samantha Ferraro of Seal Beach got an early jump with her recipe for rugelach, saying that it is “a cookie I grew up with and dear to my heart. It is a traditional Jewish cookie, so I make it every year for the holidays to celebrate Hanukkah. I used dark cherry preserves and chopped green pistachios as the filling to offer a 'red/green' look for Christmas colors and have a marriage of the holidays. I love this cookie so much. It's sweet and buttery, creamy from the cream cheese dough with a slight tart from the cherries. Happy holidays!”
