Would a Mitt Romney presidency be good for the world? That’s what voters will have a chance to assess during Monday’s presidential debate, which will focus on foreign policy. Among the topics on tonight’s agenda: Afghanistan and Pakistan, Israel and Iran, China and two segments on “the changing Middle East and the new face of terrorism,” according to an announcement made by moderator Bob Schieffer. With the race at a dead heat, President Obama will have to do more than tie with his Republican challenger. He’ll have to win it in order to see the needle move in his favor.
Of course, when it comes to foreign policy, the Times editorial board had been critical of Romney on a numberofoccasions, most recently in its endorsement for Obama, writing that Romney, "has sounded bellicose on foreign policy, particularly in regard to the complex challenges posed by Iran, Russia and China, with which he appears determined to start a trade war."
Once again, we'll be streaming tonight’s presidential debate right here in this spot at 6 p.m. PDT.
