Animal Practice:  Dorothy (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) agrees to judge the hospital's pet costume contest and is soon offered a bribe in this new episode (8 p.m. NBC).

Nature: The new episode "Magic of the Snowy Owl" takes a look at the bird made popular by the Harry Potter books and movies (8 p.m. KOCE).

The Neighbors:  The Weavers introduce the aliens to Halloween, in this new episode (8:30 p.m. ABC).

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: In the series' 300th episode, a boy is kidnapped from under his father's nose in a subway station in a case that reminds Benson, Munch and Cragen (Mariska Hargitay, Richard Belzer, Dann Florek) of a similar abduction that happened in the same neighborhood 13 years earlier and was never solved (9 p.m. NBC).

Supernatural: While investigating a murder in a college town, Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles) break into an apartment, where they find two bodies and a laptop with a bizarre video (9 p.m. KTLA).

The Houstons: On Our Own:  This new docu-series follows Whitney Houston's brother Gary and his wife, Pat — Whitney's manager and friend — as they deal with the media and Houston's estate while struggling with their on grief and helping the late singer's daughter, Bobbi Kristina (9 and 9:30 p.m. Lifetime).

Chicago Fire:  Casey (Jesse Spencer) faces a tough decision when the son of a dirty cop hits a teenager while driving drunk, leaving the boy paralyzed, in this new episode (10 p.m. NBC).

South Park:  The Stan is unable to go trick-or-treating, in person, in this new episode (10 p.m. Comedy Central).


The Raven:  Edgar Allan Poe probably is rolling over at this broadly comic 1963 adaptation of his famously dark poem. Vincent Price stars as a former sorcerer whose help is needed to undo a curse cast by the evil Scarabus (Boris Karloff). A very young Jack Nicholson and Peter Lorre also star (5 p.m. TCM).


2012 World Series: Game one: The Detroit Tigers visit the San Francisco Giants (4:30 p.m. Fox).

NBA Preseason Basketball: The Lakers visit the Los Angeles Clippers (7:30 p.m. FS Prime).
