'Iron Man 3' trailer, catching up to 'Avengers' on YouTube

October 27, 2012|By Deborah Netburn

Dudes of the world, you are super into "Iron Man 3."

On Sunday, Marvel released a teaser trailer for the film, which is due out in spring 2013. Just 20 seconds long, it has been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube.

But that's small potatoes compared to the official "Iron Man 3" HD trailer that was released one day later. It went live at midnight Monday night and has already been viewed on YouTube more than 32 million times.

It got 11 million views just in the first day.

To put that number in perspective, "The Avengers" trailer, which has been up since February, has been viewed about 37 million times. And as YouTube trend manager Kevin Allocca points out, the "Avengers" trailer was one of 2012's most watched trailers on the site.

With about six months to go before "Iron Man 3" is released in theaters, there's a good chance that its trailer will beat "The Avengers" in terms of views.

And if you're wondering who is most likely to be watching this trailer, the answer is dudes, dudes and more dudes.

According to YouTube's stats, the trailer is most popular with a males 25-34, followed by males 35-44, followed by males 18-24.
