Several media outlets are reporting that Connecticut basketball Coach Jim Calhoun will announce his retirement on Thursday.

Calhoun, 70, has won won three NCAA titles at UConn but has been beset of late with a series of health issues and controversy surrounding his storied program.

Calhoun, who has recorded 873 wins, suggested in an interview last week with SI.com that he would make a decision on his future within two weeks. Calhoun is recovering from a broken hip suffered in a bike fall. He is also a cancer survivor.

UConn basketball has been barred from the 2013 NCAA Tournament because it failed to meet NCAA academic progress requirements.
