Letters: El Monte's real scandals

September 25, 2012

Re "Ease up, El Monte," Editorial, Sept. 21

Yes, El Monte should ease up on the civic-spirited lifeguards, especially considering the city's history of scandal.

Mayor Andre Quintero has a short memory. He stated that the city manager would decide the fate of the fired lifeguards. Quintero's previous city manager, Jim Mussenden, resigned after being caught in a prostitution sting. Mussenden's successor, Rene Bobadillo, resigned for a job in Huntington Park. So who, exactly, is to determine the lifeguards' fate?

Apparently, El Monte has no moral imagination.
