PARIS -- A grunge romance. That's how you might describe Belgian designer Dries Van Noten's spring-summer 2013 collection shown Wednesday at a Left Bank garage space during Paris Fashion Week.
The look: Masculine and feminine. Sheer plaids and soft florals. Menswear inspiration mixed with boudoir-inspired sheer layers and ruffles. Navy, black, lavender, pink and blue color palette.
The key piece -- a sheer, plaid button-down shirt (Noten's softer take on the grunge flannel) -- was paired with everything from a silvery plaid vest and blue floral pencil skirt to a slouchy camel-colored grandpa sweater and sheer floral pajama pants.
Skirts came with a sheer overlay and a cascading back ruffle, or sparkly embroidered front panels. Sleeveless jackets were defined by nipped-in waists and ruffled peplums.
