Live discussion: Lakers and Clippers make push for playoffs

April 03, 2013

It's that time of year, when NBA teams focus on getting ready for playoff basketball.

This season is a bit different, with the Lakers struggling to make the postseason while the Clippers are trying to regain the momentum that helped carry them to the second tier of Western Conference playoff teams.

Join NBA reporter Brad Turner and editor Barry Stavro as they discuss what to expect the next two weeks.

Can the Lakers overtake the Utah Jazz for the eighth spot in the playoffs? Even the Houston Rockets in seventh and Golden State Warriors in sixth can be caught, although those scenarios are more unlikely than overtaking Utah, which holds the tiebreaker over the Lakers.

The Clippers, meanwhile, are in a three-way battle with the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets, who both have two fewer losses this season, for the third, fourth and fifth spots in the West.

Can the Lakers make the playoffs? Can the Clippers climb to No. 3 for a more favorable first-round matchup?
