Demi Lovato tweeted a photo of herself without makeup on Wednesday, urging her almost 13 million followers to do the same.

"Ladies, be brave today.. take off your make-up and stop using those filters!! WE are beautiful!!!," she wrote as a caption to the photo (a cropped version of which is shown above).

Her followers responded by sending along pics of themselves in a similar state, with a handful of them earning attention from the "Heart Attack" singer, who offered props for beautiful smiles, skin and more.

"So many GORGEOUS faces.. Not enough battery left on my phone!!!," she tweeted a short while later. "Haha love you ALL!!!

After her struggles with self-image, which culminated in a 90-day stay at a rehabilitation facility back in late 2010, it's nice to see Demi so grounded about her appearance. She later admitted a diagnosis of bipolar II disorder, plus treatment for eating disorders and cutting.

Lovato's fresh-faced post was retweeted more than 60,000 times. A picture of a makeup-free Mariah Carey — which some folks described as "light makeup" — got about 500 retweets last week.
