Actress Naya Rivera. (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles…)
Naya Rivera, Jennifer Morrison, Clare Bowen and Christa Miller are taking it all off for Allure's annual nudes issue.
The TV stars were photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, strategically covering their breasts and nether regions in the name of art and passion. Last year, Maria Menounos, Debra Messing, Leslie Bibb, Taraji B. Henson and Morena Baccarin posed for Demarchelier.
The inspiration for this year's shoot came from Marilyn Monroe's final film, "Something's Got to Give," and the actresses were photographed poolside in Beverly Hills with wet or tousled hair. But the girls are also explaining why they're baring it all for a greater purpose.
For "Glee's" Rivera, 26, this is just an extension of her sex symbol status.
"I actually was not nervous about posing nude today. I was excited more than anything else actually," she said.
Rivera has become a sex symbol to the lesbian community and says that she gets more girls than her boyfriend, rapper Big Sean. "They always tweet me about my booty."
Morrison, 34, of "Once Upon a Time" and "House" fame, closely resembles Monroe in the shoot with her blond hair and red pout. She said she's never done a nude scene before but seems to hope that the shoot will make offers come in.
"It hasn't been a conscious choice, but they don't really come my way. Maybe this shoot will change that. I've always been an active person, and working out is part of my life."
"Nashville" songstress Clare Bowen, 23, said she was the kid who always refused to wear clothes and shoes when she was younger and living out in the country.
"I said they could photograph my scars. This isn't a rite-of-passage thing or a risqué thing. It's about body image and making other people feel good," she told the beauty mag. "There's so much focus on the exterior of people's bodies, particularly when you're doing a shoot like this and in fashion and everything. People expect you to be perfect and they think that performance artists are. And we're not at all."
"Cougar Town's" Christa Miller, 48, was the oldest actress to particpate in the shoot. She's been on TV for 20 years with stints on "Scrubs," "The Drew Carey Show" and "Seinfeld." Miller said that she had three children but is still expected to look perfect, so she whipped herself into serious shape to prepare for the shoot by cycling and dieting.
"If you want to really fine-tune that body, get a naked shoot for Allure magazine. That goal makes you snap to."
She plans to celebrate by going over to costar Courteney Cox's house to have dinner. "I told her, 'You better have carbs.'"
One star clearly misisng from the shoot was the mag's May cover girl, Amanda Seyfried, who actually disrobes quite a bit in her upcoming porn-star biopic, "Lovelace."
"I would have, but my publicist wouldn’t let me!" she told Page Six.
