A transient has been arrested in connection with the killing of a man found buried in a shallow grave off the 105 Freeway, Downey police said Wednesday.

Bryan Petty, 22, was arrested Tuesday and booked on suspicion of killing the man, whose body was found Sunday. Petty was being held in lieu of $1-million bail.

The body has not yet been identified.

Downey police said Petty was a transient known to frequent the area near the 105 Freeway and Bellflower Boulevard, where the body was found.

The California Highway Patrol discovered the body in the shallow grave Sunday.
