AXS strikes deal with Huffington Post to carry HuffPost Live

AXS TV, the cable channel whose backers include entrepenuer Mark Cuban, has struck a content-sharing deal with the Huffington Post.

Starting May 13, AXS will carry programming from HuffPost Live, which is the Huffington Post's online channel, for six hours during the day. HuffPost Live typically features a mix of entertainment and political coverage. During the hours that AXS will simulcast HuffPost Live (10 a.m. - 4 p.m. ET), the content is focused more on pop culture.

For AXS TV, the partnership with Huffington Post moves it closer to its goal of being a 24/7 live channel. Formerly known as HDNet, last year Cuban rebranded it as AXS (Access) and brought in Ryan Seacrest, concert and sports giant AEG and Creative Artists Agency as partners.

Currently, AXS carries reruns during the daytime of concerts. Monday's schedule, for example, includes specials on Matchbox 20 and Moby.

The agreement with Huffington Post comes just weeks after CBS acquired a small stake in AXS and agreed to provide it with footage from the awards shows it airs including the Grammy Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.
