Police are investigating a shooting on a street corner South Los Angeles on Sunday night that left two men in the hospital, one of them in critical condition.

The men were standing at Vermont Avenue and 66thStreet when another man approached on foot and fired six to eight shots at them, according to Sgt. Rick Rodgers of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station.

“The suspect fled on foot,” Rodgers said.

The victim with the more serious injuries is 45 years old. He was hit once in the chest. The other victim, 26, was shot once in the arm and once in the leg.

The shooting did not appear to be gang related, and there was no obvious motive, Rodgers said.
