Following the crowning of the next "Food Network Star," contestants are encouraged to play dirty in the new Alton Brown-hosted series "Cutthroat Kitchen." 9 and 10 p.m. Food

As if Detroit didn't have enough of an image problem, what with its recent financial woes, the city also serves as the setting for the gritty new crime drama "Low Winter Sun." Mark Strong and Lennie James star. 10:04 p.m. AMC

"She hogs the blankets!" and "He snores!" are likely to be the tamest things said when couples young and old talk candidly about their relationships while under the covers in the special "Americans in Bed." 9 p.m. HBO

Are you gettin' tired of Armageddon-themed reality shows? Too bad! "Doomsday Preppers" fires up a new spin-off, "Doomsday Castle." 10 p.m. Nat Geo

Clothes may make the man, but for the Comic-Con crowd, it's the homemade costumes that make the "Heroes of Cosplay" as seen in this new unscripted series. 10:30 p.m. Syfy


Roaring for more? A fresh batch of age-inappropriate pairings is on display for your disapproval on the return of "Extreme Cougar Wives." 9:30 p.m. TLC

When you hear the words "Duck Dynasty" do you ever picture adorable little duck versions of John Forsythe, Joan Collins and Linda Evans? We do. The less-glamorous-than-we-imagine reality series is back for a fourth season. 10 p.m. A&E

Daymon Patterson is in Portland, Oregon, home of hipper-than-thou hotspots and punnily-named eateries, on a new "Best Daym Takeout." 10 p.m. Travel


Don Wildman is back to separate artifact from fiction on the return of "Mysteries at the Museum." 9 p.m. Travel

Paging Don Draper: It's all about perfecting "The Pitch" on the return of this advertising-themed reality series. 11 p.m. AMC

For those who find monogamy monotonous, the documentary series "Polyamory: Married & Dating" is back with new episodes. 11 p.m. Showtime

Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, hold a fast-food worker accountable for theft and then interrogate her mercilessly, as in the edgy 2012 indie thriller "Compliance." Dreama Walker stars. 9:35 p.m. Showtime


There simply aren't enough o's in "swoon" to adequately convey the sumptuousness of Joe Wright's 2012 adaptation of "Anna Karenina," with an exquisite Keira Knightley as Tolstoy's tragic heroine. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jude Law also star. 7:30 p.m. HBO
