Football: Damien Mama is a lineman to watch

August 13, 2013|By Eric Sondheimer

When it comes to offensive linemen in the Southern Section, no one is bigger and more impressive than Damien Mama of St. John Bosco. He's 6 feet 5, weighs 345 pounds and he's strong and tough.

Jordan Austin is a 6-6, 285-pound tackle from Claremont with great grades committed to USC. Toa Lobendahn is a 6-5, 285-pound lineman who transferred from Lakewood to La Habra and has been a longtime USC commit.

Viane Talamaivao of Corona Centennial was injured last season, but the 6-3, 300-pound senior is healthy and already committed to Alabama. Bar Milo (6-6, 300 pounds) of Chaminade, Zach Okun (6-5, 290) of Newbury Park and Austin Maihen (6-5, 288) of Santa Margarita are three rising junior prospects.

Joe Salcedo, a 6-6, 265-pound senior at Bishop Diego, has elite grades and improving skills.

Norco has four returning starters on its line, led by center Cory Roth, a 305-pound four-year starter.
