Isaac Hamilton, a standout from Bellflower St. John Bosco High who is considered one of the top shooting guards in the nation, has filed an official appeal to be released from the letter of intent he signed last fall with UTEP.

UTEP is coached by former USC head man Tim Floyd. Hamilton's father, Daniel, said Isaac wants to play closer to home to be near his 85-year-old grandmother, who is ill.

UTEP has until Aug. 26 to file its appeal, which Floyd said the school will do.

The National Letter of Intent Committee, which rules on such issues, then can take up to eight weeks to make a decision.
