Football: Crenshaw shows off lots of skill-position players [Video]

August 22, 2013|By Eric Sondheimer

Crenshaw might deserve the role of City Section title favorite based on its impressive group of skill-position players showed off on Thursday night in a scrimmage against Garfield.

The Cougars won't be lacking at running back. Tailback Jacob Knight and fullback Corey Walker are an imposing duo, and beware of sophomore running back Aundre Carter, younger brother of former Crenshaw standout Raymond Carter.

Quarterback Ajene Harris has perhaps the strongest arm of any City Section quarterback. The Cougars also have a potential new defensive standout in junior outside linebacker Marcus Walton.

Garfield has improved speed. Quarterback Auscencio Navarro can run the option play.

Both schools have tough openers next week against Southern Section powers on the road. Crenshaw faces Long Beach Poly and Garfield takes on Ventura St. Bonaventure.
