A witness told authorities that the victim, a 22-year-old man, was sitting in a car when a sport utility vehicle pulled up next to him and someone in the SUV shot into the car.

The victim was hit multiple times and taken to a hospital where he died, authorities said. The SUV fled the scene.

Sheriff's officials said it was unclear if the shooting was gang-related.
